The post holder will be required to work on a shift pattern, to assess patients across the urgent care pathway, working autonomously and flexibly to manage day‑to‑day assessments and/or advise on management of CYP under the age of 18 years and their families presenting to A&E Diversion Hubs at Chase Farm, A&E and ward admissions to Barnet Hospital or North Middlesex University Hospital with self‑harm and acute mental health difficulties.
The post holder will undertake a range of therapeutic tasks individually and jointly with members of the multi‑disciplinary team. This includes developing and maintaining specialist clinical skills and expertise in the assessment of CYP psychiatric emergencies and deliberate self‑harm. The role involves receiving and assessing referrals from A&E, paediatric/general wards, community teams, schools, and health colleagues across the NCL, as well as self‑referrals from CYP and their families. The post holder provides advice on the management of patients with mental health issues and non‑organically based physical symptoms, and identifies regular attendees at Acute Hospitals with mental health problems to liaison with Community CAMHS teams to make available current care plans as appropriate.
Use effective and efficient IT skills in the recording of clinical information and in communicating with colleagues from CAMHS and allied services.
