Multi Skilled Operative
Northumberland, Newcastle and Sunderland area
Full Time, Permanent, 42.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 8am – 5pm
Salary up to £35,700 per annum, plus company van & fuel card
Mears provides temporary accommodation to asylum seekers while their claims are being assessed in three regions: North East, Yorkshire and Humber, Northern Ireland, and Scotland. Mears works in partnership with central and local government, registered providers, tenants, landlords, and investors to find solutions to homelessness, provide more social and affordable housing, and create specialist housing for people with care needs.
About the Role:
We are seeking a passionate Multi Skilled Operative to join our expanding team in the Northeast of England, working within a busy responsive repairs environment. You will report individual job actions from site to ensure high service levels and client satisfaction. Your main duties will include repairs and refurbishment activities on tenanted properties, delivering excellent customer service while adhering to safety, quality, and cost standards. Responsibilities include general repairs such as changing doors, taps, baths, fixing radiators, kitchen units, fire doors, carpets, and plastering ceilings and walls where needed.
The role also involves property inspections in occupied properties, completing inspection forms on a handheld device, carrying out small repairs on-site, and reporting larger repair issues for future planning.
Role Criteria:
* NVQ Level 2 in Plastering, Plumbing, or Joinery
* Trade knowledge and experience in two other trades
* Full UK driving license
* Ability to work independently
* Flexibility and willingness to travel
* Excellent communication and customer service skills
* Entitlement to work in the UK (no visa sponsorship available)
