We are looking for a caring and enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistant to join a supportive team. The successful candidate will work closely with teachers and other staff to provide tailored support for pupils with special educational needs, helping them to access the curriculum and reach their full potential. Beginning September 2025. Duties as a SEN Teaching Assistant: Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with a range of special educational needs. Assist in the planning and delivery of learning activities, adapting materials where necessary. Promote the inclusion and independence of pupils in all aspects of school life. Implement individual education plans (IEPs) and behaviour support strategies. Monitor and record pupil progress and provide feedback to teachers and parents/carers. Support pupils with personal care needs where required. Work collaboratively with teaching staff, the SENCO and external professionals. Ideal SEN Teaching Assistant: Previous experience working with children with special educational needs (in a school or similar setting). A patient, compassionate and flexible approach. Good communication and teamwork skills as a SEN Teaching Assistant. An understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures. Relevant qualifications are desirable (e.g. Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent), but not essential for the right candidate. Why Step Teachers? ...
