Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) is seeking an experienced and strategic education leader to join The Learning Academy as Head of Education – Learning Enhancement on a fixed-term basis to cover maternity leave. This senior leadership role is responsible for leading and developing the Learning Enhancement function, strengthening the quality, inclusivity, governance and impact of education across all delivery modalities, including face-to-face, blended,
simulation-based and distance learning.
Reporting to the Associate Director of Education, you will provide both strategic and operational leadership, ensuring education delivered through the Learning Academy is pedagogically robust, inclusive by design, quality-assured and aligned with organisational priorities. You will play a key role in maintaining momentum across critical workstreams during the maternity leave period.
You will be an experienced education leader with a strong background in educational quality assurance, learning design and governance, ideally within healthcare, higher education or similarly complex environments.

Main duties of the job
* Provide strategic and operational leadership for the Learning Enhancement function within The Learning Academy.
* Lead and maintain robust educational governance, quality assurance and enhancement frameworks.
* Ensure education provision is inclusive, evidence-informed and designed to deliver meaningful impact for learners.
* Provide expert leadership in learning design across multiple delivery modalities.
* Lead and support faculty development, strengthening teaching capability, inclusive facilitation and evaluation practice.
* Oversee the optimisation of learning platforms to ensure accessible, seamless and high-quality learner journeys.
* Support the delivery of scalable and sustainable education models, including distance and asynchronous learning.
* Line manage and support members of the Learning Enhancement team,
fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability and continuous improvement.
* Work closely with senior colleagues and stakeholders across the NHS, higher education and professional bodies
You will bring:
Significant experience of leading educational strategy, quality and enhancement at a senior level.
Demonstrable expertise in learning design across multi-modal delivery.
A strong commitment to inclusive, learner-centred education.
Experience of leading and developing teams through complex programmes of work.
Confidence working with senior stakeholders and navigating governance structures.
A postgraduate qualification in education (or equivalent experience), with evidence of continued professional development.

Academic/Professional qualification/Training
Essential criteria
* Be educated to Masters level or be able to demonstrate equivalent experience
