Overview
Design Manager - Midlands / South of England at TieTalent/Tetra Tech (design management role for Midlands and Southern region and wider UK).
This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious, experienced Design Coordinator to join a versatile team delivering large, multi-disciplinary projects in sectors such as defence, science, nuclear and government property. Reporting to the Technical Director for Design Management, you will lead and manage design consultants and sub-consultants, coordinating inputs on projects and liaising with the project controls team to align design with commercial outcomes.
Responsibilities
* Pre Contract, Inc Work Winning and Tenders: assist the Design Manager and bid/project teams, identify and coordinate multi-disciplinary design inputs for bid processes, help formulate fee proposals and proposal documents, ensure compliance at project opportunity outset with the Project Lifecycle governance, develop and manage the Project Execution Plan with design leads, including design deliverables and programme.
* Live Projects: support the Design Manager in managing multidisciplinary design teams to produce coordinated design solutions within the programme and budget; deliver complete, accurate, viable design information in a timely manner; run workshops to coordinate design solutions; conduct design-related risk management reviews and input into the project risk register; produce progress reports; ensure compliance with Project Lifecycle governance and the Project Execution Plan during each design stage.
* Financial and Reporting: coordinate the design process to meet commercial proposals; actively manage project risks and variations; understand the contract and variations; manage change control to maintain/improve commercial performance; assist in forecasting, payments, and invoicing as required.
* Systems and Quality: support design processes to comply with applicable regulations and obtain approvals; coordinate information production to the agreed design programme.
* Controls: monitor and support implementation of design management processes and document control; coordinate design and specialist consultants; chair or participate in design coordination meetings as required; attend client design team meetings and distribute notes and actions; support client review process as identified in the contract.
About You
* Previous experience as a Design Coordinator or similar preferred.
* Enthusiastic, professional, and adaptable with good interpersonal and communication skills.
* Strong health and safety awareness in design practices; fully IT literate with MS Office.
* Eligible for security clearance (minimum SC level).
* Located in the Midlands / South of England with flexibility to travel.
