Hedge Fund Operations Associate – Projects & Change
London
£70,000–£90,000 Base + Bonus
We’re working with a growing and entrepreneurial hedge fund that is looking to hire an Operations Associate into its London team.
This is a broad and hands-on role sitting within a lean operational environment, offering exposure across both day-to-day hedge fund operations and a range of operational enhancement and project-related initiatives as the business continues to grow.
The firm has been going through an exciting period of expansion, including the launch of a new overseas office and increasing operational complexity across the platform. As a result, they are looking for someone who enjoys getting involved in projects, improving workflows and helping shape scalable operational processes, whilst still remaining close to the operational day-to-day.
The culture is one of the biggest attractions of the opportunity.
The team is collaborative, low ego and genuinely supportive, with a flat structure and close interaction across the business. It’s the kind of environment where individuals are trusted with responsibility early on and encouraged to contribute ideas and improvements rather than simply following process.
The role will offer exposure across:
* Day-to-day hedge fund operations
* Trade lifecycle and operational oversight
* Onboarding projects and platform expansion initiatives
* Operational process improvements
* Workflow and systems enhancements
* OMS/PMS related initiatives
* Prime broker, administrator and vendor interaction
* Operational scalability and efficiency projects
This role will particularly suit someone who:
* Comes from a hedge fund or buy side operations background
* Enjoys both operational work and project-based responsibilities
* Likes improving processes and finding more efficient ways of working
* Wants broader exposure than a larger institutional environment can typically offer
* Enjoys working closely with decision makers within a lean business
* Is naturally proactive and enjoys taking ownership
The ideal background is likely to include:
* 4–6 years’ experience within hedge fund operations, middle office or fund operations
* Buy side experience preferred
* Exposure to operational projects, onboarding initiatives or systems/process improvements
* Experience working within lean or entrepreneurial environments
* Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach
* A hands-on mentality with a willingness to get involved where needed
Exposure to automation tools, workflow enhancements, Python or SQL would be beneficial, but is not essential.
For the right individual, this is an excellent opportunity to join a high-performing investment management business during a particularly exciting stage of growth, with the chance to play a visible role in helping shape and improve the operational platform over time.
