Specialist Community Public Health Nurse/School Nurse

Responsibilities
* Work as a School Nurse to support children and young people to fulfil their potential and improve health outcomes.
* Work with a range of families through the 10 priority pathways in a variety of community settings.
* Collaborate with education, social work, health and police as part of a multi-agency team; manage caseloads including children on the child protection register, care-experienced young people, and children with mental health and wellbeing concerns.
* Apply knowledge of safeguarding, trauma-informed care, and ACEs; risk manage and implement supports autonomously within the National Practice Model Getting it Right for Every Child (GIRFEC).
* Contribute to the Child and Young Person’s Plan to ensure improved outcomes and support the Transformation of School Nursing by providing supervision and learning for SCPHN/School Nursing students.
* Provide accessible, safe, effective, person-centred care as part of the School Nursing Service; maintain good communication, organisational and interpersonal skills; utilise IT systems effectively.
* Be accountable for caseload management and leadership, working as part of a team; travel across NHS Tayside as required.
Qualifications and experience
* Current Registered Nurse (NMC) and a postgraduate Specialist Community Public Health Nurse qualification in School Nursing, Health Visiting, or Community Nursing.
* Demonstrate transferable knowledge and skills; ability to work in high-pressure situations with challenging complex cases.
Requirements and expectations
* Ability to travel across NHS Tayside.
* Excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills; experience with IT systems.
* Caseload management, leadership responsibilities, and supervision/teaching duties for current and future SCPHN/School Nursing students.
Working arrangements
* Base of work: various School Nursing Bases across NHS Tayside within Angus, Dundee and Perth & Kinross; base/area discussed at interview.
* Hours: core hours 08:30 to 17:00, Monday to Friday, 37 hours/week.
