What does the role involve?
As a tutor, you’ll be providing face-to-face educational sessions to children in care or with additional needs. These sessions typically take place in the pupil’s home or in a suitable public location (such as a local library). You’ll be responsible for:
Planning and delivering tailored lessons in core subjects like English, Maths, and Science
Adapting resources to meet each learner’s specific needs and abilities
Keeping pupils engaged and building positive relationships
Monitoring progress and providing feedback using informal assessments
Implementing behaviour strategies to ensure a supportive learning environment
All pupils supported in this role will be based in and around Stockport (SK1). Specific locations will be agreed in advance to ensure sessions are convenient and accessible for both tutor and pupil.
Who are we looking for?
We’re seeking individuals who:
Have experience working with children or young people
Can confidently plan and deliver engaging lessons across the curriculum
Are passionate about helping pupils regain confidence and catch up with their learning
Can effectively manage behaviour and build rapport
Ideally have experience working with children with SEN or SEMH needs
To be successful, you must be able to demonstrate relevant experience. All applicants will be subject to background checks and must hold a valid, up-to-date DBS certificate (registered on the update service). Teaching Personnel can support your DBS application if needed.
Working Hours:
Flexible sessions between Monday to Friday, 09:00–16:00

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
