Key Responsibilities
Financial Management & Reporting
* Oversee all accounting operations including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and inventory accounting;
* Prepare and present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements;
* Manage month-end and year-end close processes;
* Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards and regulatory requirements;
* Coordinate and support internal and external audits and reviews.
Budgeting, Forecasting & Analysis
* Lead the annual budgeting process and ongoing financial forecasting;
* Monitor financial performance against budget and provide variance analysis;
* Develop financial models and operational insights to support strategic planning;
* Provide timely and accurate financial information to senior leadership.
Internal Controls & Process Improvement
* Establish and maintain effective internal controls and financial policies;
* Identify opportunities to improve processes, systems, and reporting efficiency;
* Lead implementation and optimization of accounting or ERP systems;
* Ensure compliance with company policies, contracts, and financial obligations.
Cash Flow & Risk Management
* Manage cash flow, working capital, and banking relationships;
* Oversee credit management and collections;
* Support insurance, risk management, and government reporting requirements.
Team Leadership & Collaboration
* Provide guidance to administration manager and team;
* Foster a culture of accuracy, accountability, and continuous improvement;
* Collaborate with operations, sales, production, and leadership to support business needs.
Qualifications
* CPA designation (CPA, CA, CMA, or CGA) required;
* 3+ years of progressive accounting or finance experience, preferably in a small to mid-sized organization;
* Experience in agriculture, manufacturing, or inventory-based businesses is an asset;
* Strong knowledge of financial reporting, internal controls, and budgeting;
* Experience with accounting/ERP systems and advanced Excel skills;
* Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities;
* Excellent communication skills with the ability to work effectively across departments.
Working Conditions
* Working conditions consisting primarily of an office environment, although limited time spent in production facility or lab may be required.
