Your Role
Ultromics is seeking a Clinical Research Scientist to play a pivotal role in driving the success of our research and development initiatives. As a Clinical Research Scientist, you will work hand-in-hand with internal and external research and development teams to design high impact pre-clinical, pivotal, and post-market research projects, oversee completion of data collection, and lead the analysis and dissemination of scientific communications. You will play a key role throughout the product lifecycle, collaborating with AI Scientists, Software Engineers, Product Teams, Marketing and Market Access, and Regulatory Experts to guide the development, evaluation, and integration of novel diagnostic and prognostic tools into the clinical workflow.
Your Responsibilities
* Lead in the development of research and development protocols, including literature reviews, data selection mechanisms, data management plans, and statistical analysis plans
* Contribute to product design and subsequent market authorisation validation, including clinical and research design input Artificial Intelligence and Computer Vision (AICV) process
* Contribute to statistical analysis of clinical and imaging data for diagnostic and prognostic research
* Contribute to scientific communication to internal and external audiences, including company presentations, cross-departmental presentations, conference presentations, and scientific manuscripts
* Support market access and business development activities to develop and refine clinical and business use cases, including return on investment and cost-effectiveness evidence
* Collaborate with internal and external clinicians to understand disease-specific clinical workflows to effectively bridge the gap between research and practice
* Collaborate with commercial teams to refine clinical and scientific messaging in marketing and customer engagement
* Assist with review of internal research policy, procedures, analytical and data management code, and scientific communication
* Follow good information governance practice throughout this job role and ensure compliance with Ultromics’ information security and data protection policies in all applicable assigned tasks

Requirements
Your skills and experience:
* Advanced degree (PhD, MD, or equivalent) in cardiovascular science, physiology, clinical research, or a related field.
* Strong foundation in research design, methodology, and biostatistics including experience developing studies from inception to analysis and dissemination.
* Demonstrated ability to translate complex clinical questions into testable hypotheses and well-structured study protocols.
* Proficiency in data science programming methods such as Python or R.
* Knowledge and experience of adhering to good clinical practice.
* Excellent communication skills with the ability to present findings and influence decisions, internally and externally, across technical and clinical stakeholders.
* Ability to cope with competing and dynamic demands, timelines, and priorities independently and as part of a team.
Your desired skills and experience:
* Background in cardiovascular imaging.
* Understanding of biostatistics, study methodology, and performance evaluation metrics for diagnostic/prognostic tools.
* Experience in regulatory submissions, real-world evidence generation (RWE), health technology assessment (HTA), and multi-centre trials.
* Experience working with or alongside clinicians, with an ability to understand clinical workflows and interpret medical data in context.
* Track record of publications or scientific communication in cardiovascular physiology or medicine.
* Knowledge of cardiomyopathies and heart failure related conditions.
* Knowledge of version control systems (e.g., Git).
* Familiarity with AI/ML applications in healthcare.
* Experience in industry research, preferably in medical device or pharmaceutical setting, especially venture capital-backed start-up.
