Directorate
We are seeking a pro-active, self-motivated and enthusiastic person for the role of Senior Admissions Officer. The successful candidate will line manage a team of Admissions Officers responsible for processing all applications received for the School of Management and the School of Law and Social Sciences.
With extensive knowledge of using SITS and E:vision, the post-holder will take a strategic lead in the ongoing development of the online application form, applicant portal and online admissions office.
The post-holder will have experience of suggesting and initiating the development of process improvements, ensuring that proposed solutions are effective and efficient, delivering a positive impact on the customer experience.
The post-holder will work with a wide range of key stakeholders across the university, including the Visa Support team, Regional teams and members of academic staff from the relevant areas.
What you will be doing:
1. The Senior Admissions Officer will line manage a team of Admissions Officers; this will include managing workloads, managing staff absences/annual leave requests, recruitment and induction activities, performance reviews, training and development and managing conduct and welfare issues
2. Co-ordinate and manage the workload for the designated team, ensuring that applications are processed in adherence to University policy
3. Demonstrate technical ability on SITS to produce, code and set-up offer letters and other applicant communications via SITS, ensuring that all such communications are in line with University guidelines.
4. Ongoing development of technical knowledge and skills to resolve issues and to work with the relevant teams on SITS developments, enhancements and problem-solving
5. To make and format equitable and accurate decisions for entry to all courses including undergraduate, postgraduate, research, CPD and apprenticeships in line with agreed criteria and timescales
6. To act as the primary contact for the designated academic area/s, both within the University and externally, for all aspects of the admissions process including complex issues, policies, requirements and the first level management of admissions complaints. This will involve the writing of new policies and procedures, updating those which are already in existence and to make recommendations for process improvements.
Qualifications/ experience:
7. GCSE English and Maths or equivalent
8. Undergraduate degree or equivalent level of work experience
9. Significant experience in HE Admissions
10. Experience of providing advice and guidance on admissions policies and procedures
11. Experience of contributing to project based activities
12. Significant experience of the SITS system
13. High level of IT skills
14. Highly developed administrative and organisational skills
15. Excellent interpersonal, communication and teamwork skills
