This permanent role has a starting salary of £41,585 per annum, based on a 36 hour working week.

We have a great opportunity to join our Public Health Intelligence and Insights team as a Public Health Analyst. We support hybrid working with working from home mixed with some days in the office.

About The Role
Our Public Health Intelligence and Insight Team provides crucial data and insights that commissioners need to drive targeted improvements in population health and to tackle health inequalities effectively.
You will play a key part in analysing complex data sets, identifying key public health trends or outliers within these data sets. Typically structured within needs assessments, your analyses will explore a variety of geographical areas, population groups, and health and wellbeing issues, offering insights that guide our strategic decisions. You will provide vital support to Surrey's Joint Strategic Needs Assessments (JSNA) assessing the current and future health and care needs for the Surrey system.
You will support the wider intelligence team with the completion of ad-hoc requests. This will include in many cases working with the requester to refine research questions to enable insightful products, as well as completing the analysis. This requires a specialist understanding of public health data; where to access datasets, how to interpret complex public health datasets, and how to explain these results to the wider team to enable commissioning of services.
Whilst our focus is on public health, we value diversity in professional backgrounds. You don't need to have a background in public health to apply. Your transferable skills from other areas within the health and care system or from healthcare analytics could offer invaluable perspectives to our team.
Shortlisting Criteria
In order to be considered for shortlisting, your application will clearly evidence the following skills and align with our :
10. Experience of using statistical and epidemiological methods for analysing data sets
11. Experience of working with multiple sets of health-related data
12. Experience of, or passion for, using analytics as evidence within assessments of need, dashboards, or other statistical reporting
13. Knowledge of a coding language such as R, Python or SQL and experience of using code for data analysis and/or reports
14. Experience of using, or interest in learning, Tableau for data visualisation

18. Tell us about your experience of stakeholder management, either external or internal. Please describe a recent project in which stakeholder management was important and the role that you took within it.
