Wood is recruiting for a Weight Control Engineer to support an innovative Offshore Windfarm project; this is a contract position which will run for around 18 months.

This role is to work on a Clean Energy project for an offshore windfarm substation which will run for around 18 months.
1. To provide and support weight control engineering activities to Wood projects.
2. Acting as Principal Weight Control Engineer.
3. Ensuring applicable Wood Procedures are adhered to.
4. Carrying out weight control activities on behalf of the project.
5. Acting as discipline originator for all weight control and weight estimating reports and procedures as defined by the project Document Register and in accordance with the project schedule.
6. Coordinates with all disciplines as necessary in the preparation and development of weight report and ensuring that disciplines’ input weights are complete and checked.
7. Review relevant Client-provided data for weight implications and requirements.
8. Protects the budget and NTE weights against unauthorized weight growth or CoG shifts.
9. Coordinates and validates weight data from the engineering disciplines concerned.
10. Updates and maintain the project weight and centre of gravity database, ensuring that correct allowances and loading condition codes are applied to items input into the database.
11. Review all third-party weight data for weight implications and requirements.
12. Responsible for interface with Client and external Third Parties such as Installation Contractor, Fabrication and Verification Contractors. Coordinates meetings and handles responses arising from these interfaces.
13. Reports to Lead Engineer or Engineering Manager on work status/problem areas/needs.
14. Liaison and reporting to Lead Engineer and Project Management.
15. The Principal Weight Control Engineer is responsible for the technical integrity of his deliverables. He shall strive to be aware of the cost and time implications of his decisions and raise any queries or concerns with the Lead Weight Control Engineer, Engineering Manager or Department Manager .
16. UK bachelor’s degree or (depending on experience) HNC/HND qualification in appropriate engineering subject
17. Experience of offshore plated structures preferable
18. Experience providing early estimates of weight using manual estimates, norms etc
