Job Description
Reporting directly to the Sizewell C Site Delivery Director, the Site Delivery Lead holds delegated accountability for the end to end delivery of a defined section of the Main Development Site.
This is a senior leadership position operating just below Director level, with responsibility for leading Senior Managers and Area Delivery teams, and carrying delegated Principal Contractor duties across enabling works, major civils, networks and buildings. The role holds significant safety, commercial and programme accountability within a technically complex, highly regulated nuclear construction environment.
The Site Delivery Lead ensures safe, compliant and predictable execution of scope from concept through to handover, aligning construction strategy with programme objectives, contractual obligations and statutory legislation.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide senior leadership across a defined Site Delivery portfolio within the Main Development Site
* Hold delegated Principal Contractor responsibility in line with CDM legislation and project strategy
* Lead, develop and performance manage Senior Managers and matrix delivery teams
* Drive safe, on time and on budget delivery in accordance with the Programme Execution Plan
* Maintain full oversight of cost, risk, schedule and change control using robust performance management tools
* Define and manage cross programme interfaces with Civil Works, Nuclear Island, Conventional Island and MEH alliances
* Ensure contractual obligations and List of Deliverables are fulfilled across assigned scope
* Manage commercial exposure including variations, compensation events and associated negotiations
* Monitor progress against milestones and provide clear reporting to the Site Delivery Director
* Embed nuclear safety culture and ensure quality is assured through a graded approach
* Apply continuous improvement and knowledge capture as business as usual across the delivery organisation
* Provide strategic workforce planning and ensure sustained SQEP compliance across the Area Delivery team
* Lead performance assurance reviews across contractors and delivery partners, driving corrective action where required
Qualifications
Nuclear experience is not essential, but is of course welcome. If you have worked within a highly regulated environment, your skills and approach are highly transferable and of strong interest to us.
We also recognise that the perfect candidate rarely exists. If you feel you meet around 80 percent of the criteria and are motivated to develop further, we would strongly encourage you to apply.
* Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering or Construction Management, or equivalent
* Chartered Engineer or Fellow status with a recognised professional body preferred
* Demonstrable experience of managing projects through the full lifecycle from concept to handover
* Strong understanding of nuclear quality requirements and application of a graded approach
* Proven leadership within large scale infrastructure or nuclear new build environments
* Extensive experience delivering reinforced concrete and high integrity civil structures
* Strong commercial awareness with deep familiarity of NEC and FIDIC contract forms
* Demonstrable experience holding delegated Principal Contractor responsibilities on major infrastructure projects
* Proficient in cost control, risk management, scheduling and earned value techniques
