Job Description:
The Oxford Drug Discovery Institute (ODDI), part of the Alzheimer’s Research UK, invites applications for an experienced cell/molecular Postdoctoral Research Scientist with a focus on neuroinflammation and neurodegeneration. Based in the Neuroimmune team, you will contribute to the drug discovery pipeline and advance research in neuroinflammation's role in neurodegenerative diseases.
Your responsibilities include designing and conducting preclinical experiments, primarily using human iPSC-derived cultures, to identify and validate targets and pathways. You will manage your own research projects, develop new ideas, techniques, and technologies, and support team members through training and collaboration. Additionally, you will prepare scientific reports, journal articles, and represent ODDI at public meetings and seminars.
Applicants should hold a PhD/DPhil (or nearing completion) in Neuroscience, Cell Biology, or a related field, with relevant laboratory experience, especially in microglial/macrophage biology. Excellent communication skills, ability to publish research, and experience in neuroimmunology are essential. Knowledge in cellular pathology of neurodegeneration and neuronal biology is desirable.
