Overview
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced and motivated colleague to join us as a Legal Assistant Team Leader, leading our Legal Assistant team within the legal departments. In this role, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the team, ensuring high-quality support is provided to the wider legal function. You will play a key role in driving performance, developing capability, and ensuring work is delivered accurately and efficiently in a regulated legal environment.
Responsibilities
- Leading, mentoring and supporting the Legal Assistant team to deliver excellent customer outcomes and build skills and capability
- Managing performance, absence and development in line with company and SRA requirements
- Building positive, open relationships that encourage engagement and development
- Contributing to a collaborative, high-performing management culture
- Supporting the delivery of change initiatives and helping the team adapt confidently
- Working closely with legal departments and internal stakeholders to meet service requirements
- Ensuring work is completed accurately and within agreed timescales
- Monitoring performance using MI and supporting improvement actions
- Partnering with the Operational Principal Associate on MI, process improvement and operational initiatives
Qualifications & Skills
- A strong customer-focused approach and commitment to delivering high-quality service
- Experience supporting or leading others (formal line management experience is helpful but not essential)
- The ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively under pressure
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage colleagues at all levels across ARAG
- A proactive mindset, with the ability to identify risks or issues and escalating appropriately
- An interest in using MI to understand performance and support improvements
- A collaborative approach and the ability to build positive working relationships
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office and general systems
- Interest in legal or regulated environments (experience in an SRA-regulated setting is desirable but not essential)
