Fabrication Team Leader - SFS Panel

Department: Manufacturing – SFS Wall Panels
Purpose of Role
To lead a team of operatives manufacturing SFS wall panels incorporating steel framing, windows, CP board, and bracketry for façade systems.
Responsible for achieving daily build targets, maintaining quality, safety, and supporting the Production Manager in line efficiency and planning.
Key Responsibilities
Daily Operations & Planning
 1. Deliver the daily production plan, ensuring panels are built in the correct sequence from the master schedule.
 2. Support the Production Manager by recording build times and stage durations for analysis and improvement.
 3. Monitor progress through each stage and reallocate labour to maintain cost efficiency.
 4. Identify material or drawing shortages and escalate promptly to avoid production delays.
 5. Update progress on build records and ensure alignment with the Master Build Schedule.
Quality & Inspection
 6. Ensure panels are built in line with drawings, tolerances, and ITP requirements.
 7. Carry out in-process and final checks prior to Quality inspection.
 8. Ensure operatives understand inspection points and documentation requirements.
 9. Stop the line and report issues if safety or quality are compromised.
Health, Safety & Training
 10. Ensure safe systems of work are followed at all times, and that the team uses correct PPE and equipment.
 11. Work with H&S to maintain safe conditions, report hazards, and take part in safety inspections.
 12. Support the Production Manager in maintaining an up-to-date training matrix for all operatives.
 13. Assist in developing SOPs with the H&S and Quality teams and ensure they are followed on the line.
People & Performance
 14. Allocate work, supervise output, and ensure operatives maintain performance and quality standards.
 15. Coach and train new staff on safe working practices and assembly techniques.
 16. Maintain team discipline, morale, and a clean working environment in line with 5S.
 17. Provide feedback on performance and suggest areas for improvement.
Continuous Improvement
 18. Suggest improvements to layout, tooling, and build methods.
 19. Participate in meetings to discuss performance, delays, and opportunities to improve flow.
 20. Ensure machine checks are completed, report faults immediately, and verify inspection tags are in date.
