About the role

We are recruiting for a Project Engineer to support our rental fleet on a permanent staff basis joining our growing team. The ideal candidate will have worked in an engineering role managing equipment build and refurbishment projects including Electric/Diesel/Pneumatic Hydraulic Power Units, Umbilical Reelers, Spooling Units, High Pressure Pump Units, Mechanical handling equipment. The ideal candidate will have a background in equipment design and demonstrable experience in the production of engineering drawings and technical documentation.
In this position the candidate will play a key function in both the mobilisation of equipment for projects and the service and maintenance the equipment. The candidate will have a close working relationship with the Engineering and Rental teams and will be directly reporting to the Technical Director.
Tasks and Responsibilities
* Working within the rentals department supporting the service, maintenance, modification, mobilisation and de-mobilisation of offshore equipment.
* Project managing the build of standard newbuild rental assets.
* Project managing the service of equipment, ranging from light annual maintenance work to complete 5 yearly overhauls.
* Liaising directly with clients to assist with technical support during the run up to mobilisation and continuing to support them during the project phase.
* Trouble shooting faults with equipment, including mechanical, electrical and hydraulic issues.
* Using Autodesk Inventor or AutoCAD to carry out modifications to existing designs.
* Ensuring the key documentation is correct and up to date for the rental equipment, including Operations and Maintenance Manuals.
* Carrying out Factory Acceptance Tests on newbuild hire equipment.
* Carrying out demonstrations of equipment to clients.
* Carrying out basic calculations such as: Umbilical weights, drum sizing, HPU Power etc.
Core Requirements
* You must be a driven team player who is mechanically minded with an excellent attention to detail and a genuine passion for engineering.
* Minimum Higher National Certificate (HNC) in Mechanical Engineering and have completed an apprenticeship in a mechanical trade.
* A minimum of 2 years’ experience in a project or design engineering role.
* Highly competent in mechanical and hydraulic systems. Must have a minimum of 5 years experience of working with back deck machinery.
* Able to read and understand hydraulic schematics.
* Competent in: Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD, Producing technical documentation, OMMs, Spares Lists etc.
* Experience of working on products including: Electric/Diesel/Pneumatic Hydraulic Power Units, Umbilical Reelers, Spooling Units, High Pressure Pump Units, Mechanical handling equipment.
Preferred
* Degree in Mechanical Engineering (BEng / BSc Hons) or similar.
* Knowledge of DNVGL-ST-E271 and DNVGL-ST-E273 standards and the Machinery Directive.
* Working knowledge of the ATEX/ UKEX, PED/ PESR directives.
* Competent in using Autodesk Frame Generator.
* Experience of tendering for new projects, producing a CTR and technical bid to suit a client’s specification.
