Associate Specialist Practitioner – Tissue Viability Service
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Band 6 Tissue Viability Specialist Nurse to join our friendly hardworking and highly motivated team. We foster good working relationships and an environment for continuous professional development.
The post holder will provide a comprehensive, evidence-based Tissue Viability Service for both patients and health care professionals in East Cheshire NHS Trust footprint. Covering both acute and community services, including nursing and residential homes, specialist schools and GP practices, caring for all ages from birth.
You will be a self‑motivated, enthusiastic individual who has specialist knowledge of tissue viability, working autonomously at a level appropriate to clinical competence and within the scope of professional practice. In this operational role you will work with the clinical teams to provide effective patient care in respect to pressure ulcer prevention and management. Providing specialist advice, training, and support to clinical teams, ensuring best practices are followed across the Trust.
Good communication and presentation skills will be essential in building good working relationships with members of the multi‑disciplinary team, patients and their carers/families.
Hours per week: 33 hours worked over 9 days

* To provide the specialist practitioner function in the delivery of care to patients who have been referred to the Tissue Viability Nursing Service.
* To develop and deliver high quality, specialist patient‑centred care and work with the associated clinical team to ensure this is incorporated within the Business Group and Trust objectives.
* To deliver training both formally and informally within the specialist field of Tissue Viability.
* To act as a role model ensuring practice is the most up to date and delivered in a professional manner at all times.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* 1st level registration with extensive post registration experience.
* Post registration qualification in Tissue Viability, Leg Ulcer Management or evidence of relevant post registration experience within the specialty of Tissue Viability.
* Educated to first degree level or be able to demonstrate equivalent skills and abilities to work at this level.
* Nurse Prescribing Qualification.
* V300/V150.
* Degree module in specialist area or working towards this or be prepared to study at this level.
* Communication/counselling skills training.
Knowledge & Skills
* Evidence of teaching and facilitating staff development in clinical practice.
* Good communication and listening skills.
* Ability to communicate at different levels.
* Ability to make appropriate decisions at all levels.
* Audit skills.
* Ability to prioritise workload, achieving a balance between clinical and other aspects of role.
* Ability to work autonomously and as part of team.
* Ability to cope under pressure; deal with stressful situations and to agreed deadlines.
* Proactive, takes own initiative.
* Supportive team member.
* Comprehensive knowledge of computers and information technology and willingness to develop further skills including PowerPoint presentation.
Experience
* Significant years proven post registration experience, some of which is in a relevant/associated area.
* Experience of completing and contributing to audit / research.
* Experience of contributing to the teaching and mentoring of staff.
* Proven interest in Tissue Viability.
* Experience in both hospital and community setting.
* Assessment of Surgical wounds and application of TNP.
* Lower limb teaching and mentoring of staff.
* Proven interest in Tissue Viability.
