About the role
The posts are offered on a one-year fixed term contract, full-time basis, with a start date of September .
Main purpose of the job
The successful candidates will be expected primarily to provide teaching, supervision and associated administrative duties.
We will make four appointments, in three areas:
• Early Modern
• Metaphysics
• Practical (two positions), ethics / politics
General duties and responsibilities
Each appointee will teach three modules (total) over the course of the academic year. We have specific modules that need to be taught (please see the job description for details). Teaching involves, inter alia:
• delivering lectures / seminars
• holding office hours
• setting and marking essays / examinations;
• supervising graduate teaching assistants (depending on module-enrolment).
Each appointee will also:
• supervise BA and MA dissertations,
• act as a personal tutor for students.
The appointees may also be required to carry out other specific tasks and duties, commensurate with the spirit of the role, as requested by the Head of Department.
About you
Candidates must hold a PhD in Philosophy or be soon to be awarded one. Applicants must demonstrate expertise in the areas to be taught, with an aptitude for teaching and be committed to fostering a positive learning environment for students.
