We have an opportunity for a Manufacturing Shift Manager to work with our Bakery teams on nightshift. The role operates on a 12 hour '4 on-4 off' shift pattern between 7pm to 7am.
This highly autonomous role will promote Best in Class Manufacturing through excellent leadership, supported by Genius Values and Behaviours. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the management and delivery of key manufacturing metrics, encompassing safety, food safety and product quality, customer order fulfilment and service while controlling the direct costs of labour, materials and utilities.
The role holder is also the site leader during out of hours periods, as such they are the key point of contact for incident management.
All in all a perfect opportunity for an existing Shift or Production Manager or an individual in a senior supervisory position looking for their next challenge.
Roles and Responsibilities
Effectively manage a shift team through delegation, coaching and support to deliver departmental KPIs and progress annual employee engagement metrics.
Manage the shift operational hygiene team to ensure day-to-day standards are maintained and product changeovers and clean downs are co-ordinated and efficient.
* Manage training and development plans for team members to ensure skills are aligned to operational requirements.
* Be aware of site health and safety standards and ensure these are consistently enforced throughout area of responsibility.
* Complete accident investigations, fully participate in site safety activities.
* Manage the production 'clean as you go' and good manufacturing procedures to maintain a safe, hygienic and efficient work environment. Participate in GMP audits and progress actions.
* Control raw material usage through the ingredient preparation area. Use SAP data recording and analysis to control raw materials, participate in material control improvement initiatives.
* Deliver KPI measures to achieve budgeted or standard performance, identify improvement opportunities to contribute towards a 'continuous improvement culture'. Share best practice with peers, participate in 'lessons learned' review activities.
* Deliver the supply chain production plan, alert the planning team of any drift from target, conduct RCA activities on areas of concern.
* Drive effective performance management using lean manufacturing techniques.
* Provide clear communication, capture manufacturing performance metrics and report them. Perform clear shift handovers. Cascade business information to the shift team. Escalate points as appropriate.
* Participate in project activities to drive performance improvement within the manufacturing function.
