Quantity Surveyor Northampton/Hertfordshire Groundworks\n\nThe Client\n\nThis family run business has been in operation for almost 30 years, predominately in the residential groundworks sector. They have grown as a business to circa £400m and have satellite offices across the UK. They have a strong reputation with leading House Builders and continue to grow year on year.\n\nThe Role\n\n * Regular site visits and liaising with the production team.\n\n * Preparing and reviewing tenders with estimators and assisting with understanding the client's requirements to offer value engineering.\n\n * Providing early cost advice to clients on variations and ensuring only authorised variations are undertaken.\n\n * Offering technical advice on drawings and ensuring each projects have the correct documentation.\n\n * Managing the end-to-end commercial aspects of the assigned projects to maximise value and collaborating with the Finance and Procurement departments accordingly.\n\n * Ensuring all commercial accountabilities are undertaken in a timely manner, with a high degree of accuracy and measure.\n\n * Analysing rates & prices and agreement of variations and / or compensation events as required.\n\n * Identification and analysis of potential debt risks and negotiating financial reconciliation with third parties to provide reasonable solutions.\n\n * Forecasting monthly and annual profit figures ensuring figures are maintained throughout the lifetime of the project.\n\n * Understanding the principles of safety on sites and projects.\n\n * Supporting the safety Director and safety team in the application of safety policy and practice.\n\n * Ensuring that any safety concerns are addressed immediately with the support of the safety team and Directors as appropriate.\n\n * Building strong working relationships with clients including social networking.\n\n * Allocating work to sub-contractors including assistance with procurement when required.\n\nWhat you NEED\n\n * Minimum GCSE, desirable HNC Level 4 Qualification in Construction/Building or equivalent.\n\n * At least 1 years experience as a trainee/assistant Quantity Surveyor.\n\n * Excellent computer skills, including Word and Excel.\n\n * Effective oral and written communication skills.\n\n * Excellent interpersonal skills.\n\n * Demonstrate an extremely high level of confidentiality.\n\n * Excellent organizational skills.\n\n * Must be able to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner.\n\n * Must be able to gather and analyse information skillfully.\n\n * Must be highly motivated and be willing to work hard.\n\nThe Benefits\n\n * You will receive an excellent package and have the opportunity to join a major civils contractor in the UK.\n\n * You will have the opportunity for development and growth dependent on performance
