The Role & Responsibilities of the Accountant
Providing insightful management information to support strategic decision-making.
Monthly Management Accounts: Manage the month-end process to ensure timely and accurate preparation of monthly management accounts, including variance analysis and robust balance sheet reconciliations.
Weekly P&Ls: Prepare and analyse weekly P&Ls for the business, investigating and communicating variances and trends to the operations team.
Financial Insights: Offer key financial and commercial insights to support business decisions.
Balance Sheet & Bank Reconciliation: Prepare and review balance sheet account & bank reconciliations, addressing reconciling items promptly.
Budgeting and Planning: Support the budgeting and planning cycles, providing critical financial data and analysis.
Risk Management: Regularly discuss risks and opportunities with the Finance Director, taking a proactive approach to resolve any issues.
Cash Flow Forecasting: Develop and maintain cash flow forecasts to support strategic decision-making and ensure financial stability.
Invoice Finance Management: Oversee invoice finance processes, ensuring accurate reconciliations and effective management.
VAT Compliance: Assist in preparing and submitting VAT returns, maintaining compliance with regulations.
Month-End Support: Play a key role in month-end processes, ensuring accurate reporting and smooth operations.
Requirements of the Management Accountant
Strong process implementation skills are essential.
Previous experience in a similar role, ideally within a small finance team or in a standalone capacity.
Formal accounting qualification is a bonus, QBE applicants with relevant experience are encouraged to apply.
High level of numeracy and IT literate.
Proficiency in accounting software.
Strong knowledge of accounts payable and receivable processes, and accounting principles.
Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data.
Strong attention to detail and organisational skills are crucial for maintaining accurate records.
Effective communication skills to collaborate with various stakeholders across the organisation.
