The post is for 12 months, located at the Royal United Hospital in Bath. We have a team of five DCTs in total (three DCT2 and two DCT1). All on-call commitments are based at RUH.
Daily duties are scheduled on a rolling rota among all five DCTs and include on-call/ward management, supervised outpatient clinics (new and review), treatment clinics (dentoalveolar surgery/biopsies), and GA theatre lists.
On-call responsibilities follow a 1:5 rota:
* 8 am - 5 pm on weekdays
* 5 pm to Midnight (Twilight) on weekdays
* Saturday 8 am to Sunday midnight on weekends
On-call support is provided by an OMFS registrar and Consultant. Within a 5-week rotation, there will be a maximum of 5 days and 5 nights on-call (non-consecutive). There is no travel requirement; post-holders are expected to be on-site during on-call periods.
Protected time is allocated for Clinical Governance projects, with encouragement to present projects and contribute to publications. A monthly meeting covers audit, journal club, and a teaching session relevant to OMFS. Attendance at the regional teaching programme is mandatory.
The department is combined with Orthodontics, offering shadowing opportunities, including a monthly joint Maxillofacial Surgery-Orthodontics clinic. Visiting specialists in Special Care Dentistry also hold clinics available for shadowing.
For posts appointed as LAS, completion and submission of a suitable logbook will count towards DCT equivalence.
At the RUH, we prioritize people, working together to deliver exceptional, person-centered care. We are committed to an inclusive environment, supporting staff wellbeing through various programs, including physical, emotional, spiritual, and financial support. We believe diversity strengthens us, and we foster a culture of learning, development, and innovation.
We invite you to explore living and working in Bath, our staff benefits, and our healthcare initiatives, including the Dyson Cancer Centre and our research efforts.
