Principal Legal Officer
Salary: £ p/h
Location: Belfast
Hours: 9am - 5pm, Mon - Fri / 37 hours per week
Duration: Temporary ongoing
Job Summary:
Responsible for representing the Department of Agriculture Environment and Rural Affairs (DAERA) and other NI Departments in Judicial Reviews, commercial litigation and procurement challenges, together with personal injury actions in the County Court and High Court and cost advice and representation before the Taxing Master.
1. To provide advice and representation to client departments, in particular DAERA, in litigation in the High Court and County Court, Commercial Court, Judicial Review Court, Court of Appeal, and the Supreme Court.
2. To work collaboratively with clients and Counsel to draft pleadings, compile affidavits and exhibit bundles, attend client consultations, advocacy as required, and generally provide a high-quality litigation service to clients in line with Service Level Agreement requirements.
3. To support the work of the Assistant Director as part of an agile and responsive legal team.
Essential Criteria:
The successful candidate must:
1 Be a qualified solicitor or barrister with no less than three years' PQE and
2 Have a working knowledge of:
4. Personal Injury litigation in the High Court and County Court;
5. Judicial Review litigation
6. Commercial litigation
