We are seeking a skilled Phlebotomist to join our healthcare team for 20 hours per week on an initial 3 month fixed term contract. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in phlebotomy and demonstrate proficiency in various techniques. This role is crucial for ensuring accurate blood collection and contributing to patient care.


Main duties of the job

Duties

* Perform venipunctures and capillary punctures for blood collection, ensuring patient comfort and safety.
* Maintain aseptic technique throughout all procedures to prevent contamination.
* Accurately label and process specimens for laboratory analysis.
* Document patient information and procedures performed in accordance with hospital protocols.
* Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure effective patient care.
* Stay updated on medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology relevant to phlebotomy practices.


About us

We are a two site GP Practice based in Old Windsor and Englefield Green looking after 12,000 patients.


Job responsibilities

Person Specification


Experience

* Previous experience in a hospital or general practice environment is highly desirable.


Qualifications

* Certification or training in phlebotomy is essential.
* Strong knowledge of anatomy and physiology, as well as medical terminology.
* Familiarity with laboratory procedures and equipment is an advantage.
* Demonstrated ability to perform basic life support (BLS) techniques.
* Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with patients and staff.
* A commitment to maintaining high standards of hygiene and safety in all aspects of work.
