Highly Specialist Clinical Pharmacist - Pharmacy
The Pharmacy Department at University Hospital Wishaw is seeking a Highly Specialist Clinical Pharmacist to lead, develop, deliver and evaluate clinical pharmacy services to a specified patient population or directorate or clinical specialty. Responsibilities are in accordance with the objectives set between the on‑site Hospital Pharmacy Manager and the Principal Clinical or Deputy Pharmacy Manager.
This role requires the pharmacist to act as a role model and provide consistently high quality pharmaceutical services.
Qualifications
* Masters degree in Pharmacy
* Post‑graduate degree or diploma in Clinical Pharmacy or Management
* Registered to practice with the General Pharmaceutical Council
* Continuing Professional Development as required by the General Pharmaceutical Council
* Ability to monitor patient therapeutic regimens to ensure effectiveness and reduce toxicity
* Previous experience delivering training and education at post‑graduate level
* Demonstrable use of clinical audit to improve practice
* Advanced level of clinical reasoning and judgement
* Excellent numeracy, verbal and written communication skills
* Ability to work to deadlines and manage resources
* Participation in weekend and public holiday working and pharmacy emergency duty service (if required)
* Experience in the specialist area the post covers (e.g., paediatrics, chronic pain)
* Ability to influence senior pharmacy, medical and managerial staff and the multidisciplinary team
Contract Details
Fixed Term or Secondment until 30/04/2026
Full time – 37 hours per week. The post is fixed term until 30/04/2026; where funding is temporary, secondments will be considered. A written agreement from the line manager is required before applying.
