This full-time post is available from 1st October 2025 for three years, within the Faculty of Environment, Science and Economy. This role will be based in the Centre for Resilience in Environment, Water and Waste (CREWW). The primary responsibility of the role-holder is to provide a high level of technical support to academics, researchers, and postgraduate students working with CREWW for the Ofwat-funded project Prediction and Early Detection of Algal Blooms in small inland water bodies (PEDAL), working with the principal investigator, Dr Diego Panici, and under the guidance of CREWW technical service management.

The post-holder will be responsible for cyanobacteria analysis causing harmful algal blooms (cyano-HABs) for a range of samples. This will include preparation of water samples, analysis using a range of equipment, organising samples and consumables, as well as supporting other technical staff with the day-to-day operation of the labs.

The post-holder will also be required, with support from the technical operations manager, to maintain resources: space; equipment and consumables and will also support health and safety and sustainability initiatives across the CREWW laboratories.

We are looking for an individual with exceptional communication and time management skills, who has experience in providing professional technical support in a research laboratory environment. You must be able to work independently, using your initiative to tackle problems, whilst also working as part of the Centre for Resilience in Environment, Water and Waste team and the PEDAL project.

The starting salary will be from £27,644 to £30,805 on Grade (grade), depending on qualifications and experience.
