About the Role
* Responsible to the Head of Design Technology for the technical service to the Design and Technology Faculty.
* Ensuring that the practical needs of the teaching staff are met in accordance with School schemes of learning.
* Working cohesively with a team of Design Technology Technicians.
* Ensure that all Design Technology equipment is well maintained.
* Stocktaking of resources within Design Technology to ensure minimum stock levels.
* Ensuring that the Design Technology resource room is well organised, accessible and user‑friendly.
* Maintain subject knowledge and attend any relevant training.
* Support wider school activities such as open days.
* Attend faculty meetings to brief staff on new equipment or practical ideas.
* Disposal and arranging for the disposal of waste materials.
* Remain up‑to‑date with the latest health and safety protocols regarding hazardous materials.
* Maintain accurate stock records and conduct regular stock checks.
* Place and progress orders, ensuring expenditure is in accordance with departmental policy and check deliveries.
* Identify equipment needs in consultation with teaching and technician staff and participate in the selection of new items of equipment.
* Organise and store equipment, apparatus and materials in accordance with local regulations where appropriate.
* Participate in the development of Design Technology Faculty’s practical and technical facilities to meet teaching and learning needs.
* Arrange maintenance and repair of Faculty apparatus and equipment.
* Ensure the maintenance of Design Technology services and facilities, liaising with premises staff as appropriate.
* Prepare and manage all related documentation and reports.
