About the Role
Hays is delighted to be working in partnership with the Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service (NIFRS) to recruit a Data Processing & Analysis Officer to join their Corporateernance & Improvement Directorate within the Service Improvement Department.This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a high-performing Data Processing & Analysis team responsible for delivering accurate, timely and meaningful data that directly supports operational performance, strategic decision‑making andmunity safety oues across Northern Ireland.You will play a key role in the extraction, cleansing, analysis and presentation ofplex datasets, ensuring adherence to Dataernance best practice, UK GDPR, and national guidance. This role also involves geospatial analysis, performance reporting, dashboard development, and supporting organisational insight through high-quality data outputs.
Key Responsibilities
1. Deliver an effective, efficient and professional data processing and analysis service, providing accurate and consistent information to internal and external stakeholders.
2. Engage with customers across NIFRS to understand information needs and provide guidance on data analysis capabilities.
3. Extract, cleanse, manipulate and analyseplex datasets from multiple digital sources.
4. Develop and maintain methodologies for digital and geospatial analysis, ensuring repeatability and high data quality.
5. Support the development of NIFRS’ digital reporting solutions, including dashboards, mapping outputs and performance reports.
6. Analyse operational performance data, identify trends and contribute to KPI reporting.
7. Provide statistical analysis and information to support FOI requests, NI Assembly questions, Department of Health requests, and other national bodies.
8. Contribute to the improvement and maintenance of NIFRS data warehouse and operational reporting systems.
9. Assist with delivering training and guidance to internal stakeholders on data interpretation and analysis.
10. Supportmunity Risk Analysis through identification, collation and interpretation of relevant datasets.
11. Conduct geospatial analysis of internal and external datasets to produce maps and spatial outputs.
12. Maintainpliance with dataernance, data protection and confidentiality requirements.
Essential CriteriaApplicants must demonstrate:
13. A Level 4 qualification (Degree/HND) with at least 1 year’s experience in a statistical analysis or research environment;
OR
A Level 3 qualification (A‑Level/HNC) with at least 2 years’ experience in a statistical analysis or research environment.
14. Understanding of data processing, analysis and information management.
15. Experience carrying out research and interpreting, analysing and presenting data.
16. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
17. Strong planning and organisational skills with the ability to work under pressure.
18. Excellentmunication and interpersonal skills.
19. High attention to detail and a strong customer-service orientation.
20. A full, current UK Category B driving licence.
Desirable Criteria
21. Experience working in the public sector.
22. Experience with Geographical Information Systems (GIS).
23. Experience analysing large,plex datasets.
