Overview
The post holder will lead the team of registered nurses, nursing associates, health care support workers and student nurses in delivering safe, effective care to patients within the Cancer Assessment Unit (CAU) in collaboration with the medical and wider MDT teams, ensuring a high-quality service to patients. The post holder will have overall responsibility for the Chemotherapy Hotline service, ensuring it is adequately resourced and audited.
Main duties
The post holder will lead the teams on the Cancer Assessment Unit (CAU) and Chemotherapy Hotline Service, acting as a role model to ensure safe and effective care. They will actively participate in meeting patient needs within the service to agreed standards, participate in audit activities and data collection to ensure key national and local targets / KPIs are met, and take on additional responsibilities in collaboration with the matron and senior nurse with responsibility for the service. The post holder will ensure the smooth running of both services.

* Qualifications
* Registered Nurse, Degree qualification in Nursing or cancer related subject.
* Practice Assessor / supervisor qualification / teaching qualification
* IV therapy competency
* SACT qualification
* UKON\'s triage trained
* REACT / SIREN or equivalent
* Experience
* Minimum 2 years\' experience at band 6 or presently working at band 7
* Experience of working in an acute environment, acute wards, A&E type setting with highly developed assessment skills
* Experience in chemotherapy hotline triage and ability to give effective information and guidance
* Knowledge
* In depth knowledge and understanding of cancer patient clinical issues and common oncology emergencies and their management
* Broad understanding of how an assessment unit works and how a chemotherapy hotline service should function
