A well-established and highly regarded specialist law firm is looking to appoint experienced Housing Solicitors to join its growing team across a number of office locations including London, Brighton, Bristol, and Cambridge. The Role:
The successful candidate will manage a varied caseload of housing matters and provide advice, representation, and advocacy across a broad range of legally aided housing work. The role will involve working closely with paralegals and support staff, supervising junior team members where appropriate, and assisting with compliance and legal aid requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
* Managing a caseload of housing matters including:
* Homelessness
* Possession proceedings
* Eviction
* Housing disrepair
* Conducting advocacy where appropriate
* Managing legal aid applications and billing files
* Ensuring compliance with Legal Aid Agency and SQM requirements
* Supervising and mentoring paralegals and junior staff
* Supporting wider team and departmental objectives
* Building and maintaining relationships with community organisations and referral networks
Candidate Requirements:
* Qualified Solicitor with a current practising certificate
* Strong experience handling legally aided housing matters
* Previous experience supervising or mentoring junior staff
* Excellent client care and communication skills
* Ability to manage vulnerable clients with empathy and professionalism
* Strong organisational and analytical skills
* Confident working independently and within a team
* Good working knowledge of legal aid funding and compliance
* Advocacy experience advantageous
* Strong IT and case management skills
Desirable:
* Housing Supervisor status
