Job Title: Data Analyst

Location: Falmer, Sussex

Contract Type: Permanent

Hours: 37

Salary: From £33,900 based on skills & experience

About the Role

Protecting the environment and eliminating pollution from our wastewater networks is one of the most critical challenges facing our business. We are looking for a talented Data Analyst to play a pivotal role in this ambition—turning complex operational and environmental data into clear insight that drives real‑world improvements. You will be at the forefront of this endeavour, with exposure at senior levels across the organisation, shaping strategy, informing targeted intervention projects, and providing key analytical input to our Pollution Incident Reduction Plans (PIRP) to help focus effort where it will have the greatest impact.

What You Will Be Responsible For

Working with a high degree of autonomy, the Data Analyst operates in a federated model, collaborating closely with both the central Data & Analytics team and the analytics function embedded within the line of business. They work alongside data engineering, BI teams, and business stakeholders to clarify requirements, validate results, and ensure all outputs are well documented, reproducible, and auditable. The role produces insights, ad‑hoc analysis, and data products that support operational and strategic decision‑making. Analysts are expected to be proactive, with strong foundations in data visualisation, data preparation, and basic statistical analysis, and to work effectively across both central and embedded teams.

Essential

* Ability to produce clear, insightful, and actionable reporting materials.
* Experience in business process mapping and process design.
* Strong statistical analysis skills, including data quality assessment and confidence measurement.
* Experience implementing asset‑management planning and analysis processes.
* Experience working with Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) systems.
* Knowledge of data‑governance practices and standards.
* Understanding of asset‑management principles and practices.
* Experience with data and analytics technologies such as Qlik or Alteryx.
* Experience using coding and querying languages such as SQL, Python, or R.

Desirable

* Experience with forecasting techniques and confidence in interpreting model outputs.
* Experience developing or improving asset‑management planning processes.
* Familiarity with advanced statistical or modelling concepts.
