Responsibilities
* Lead the council’s strategic direction and translate the Council Plan into visible outcomes.
* Steer complex systems with political sensitivity, financial discipline, and strategic clarity.
* Balance environmental stewardship with economic opportunity, tackling phosphate and river quality challenges while enabling suitable home development.
* Champion transformation grounded in data, inclusion, and community engagement, turning vision into delivery.
* Represent Herefordshire on regional and national platforms, sustaining influence within the Marches Forward Partnership and shaping English devolution.
About You
We’re looking for a leader who brings gravitas, inspires trust, builds relationships, and empowers others to do their best work. You should be comfortable shaping national policy conversations as well as engaging with local residents. No specific qualifications are specified.
