NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK employing around 40,000 staff in a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and job roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care services to a population of over 1.15 million and a wider population of 2.2 million when our regional and national services are included. Please note the salary is Pro Rata for part time hours. This post sits within a mature and dynamic Cardiac Rehabilitation service. Psychology are integrated as part of multidisciplinary sub-teams across NHSGGC consisting of clinical nurse specialists, physiotherapists, a dietitian, plus clinical support and administration staff. Additionally, the MDT regularly liaises with local cardiology consultants and pharmacists. The cardiac rehabilitation psychology team provides highly specialist psychological assessment, including neuropsychological screening assessments, and therapy at the same time as offering advice and consultation on clients’ psychological care to non-psychologist colleagues and to other, non-professional carers. The post holder will work autonomously within professional guidelines and the overall framework of the team’s policies and procedures, whilst being part of the cardiac rehabilitation psychology team and receiving supervision from a consultant clinical psychologist. The post holder will be primarily based at Royal Alexandra Hospital, which is a District general hospital situated in Paisley. The psychology team provides an area wide service to NHSGGC and as such the post holder will be required to provide psychology input across the service area and at different bases as required. We aim for patient choice in mode of consultation contact, offering in person, telephone and video (Near Me) appointments. The cardiac rehabilitation psychology team utilise a range of therapies, including cognitive behavioural (CBT), compassion (CFT) and acceptance (ACT) focussed approaches, plus Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT) and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). Motivational interviewing approaches are also at the core of our clinical work, complimentary to the care received from the wider MDT. The psychology team are actively supported to seek therapy training, where indicated, and to engage with additional therapy specific supervision and special interest groups. This post offers great variety, including individual and group work opportunities. The post holder will utilise their research skills for audit, policy and service development, and research activities within the area served by the team/service. Additionally, to provide clinical and professional supervision to trainees undertaking Masters/Doctoral training, plus to support MDT training and follow-up coaching/supervision sessions, where required.
