What Is the Opportunity?
We are looking for a Casualty Underwriting specialist to add to our Underwriting Office team as Deputy Casualty Underwriting Officer. You will use your expertise in Casualty to support the lead Underwriting Officer and leadership teams across Business Insurance Retail, SME, and Specialty to monitor and contribute to the profitable growth of our Casualty and Third Party portfolios.
You will be instrumental in developing and managing the underwriting strategy for the Casualty portfolio, collaborating with colleagues in underwriting, claims, and actuarial to monitor performance and take corrective actions. Responsibilities include setting risk appetite, rates, risk tolerance, and overseeing portfolio reviews to achieve growth and profit goals.
This role offers flexibility to work on a hybrid basis in accordance with Travelers' Hybrid Work Arrangements Policy, which involves working three days in the office and two days at home. The position is eligible for a £2,500 new joiner bonus, with potential referral bonuses.
What Will You Do?
* Support strategic underwriting decisions, including rate strength, business mix, and capacity deployment.
* Support strategy for rate adequacy, product, and pricing within portfolios.
* Assist in governance of rating tools and infrastructure.
* Analyze emerging issues and trends, providing underwriting guidance.
* Mentor and coach underwriting staff to meet standards and objectives.
* Establish and review underwriting standards and controls.
* Respond to regulatory and legislative changes.
* Oversee technical content of BI underwriting materials and coverage analysis.
* Perform other duties as assigned.
