Charity shops are popular places to shop, and in 2025, we’re opening a new shop in Hythe, Southampton! By joining our team in the Waterside area, you will help establish this shop within the local community and focus on keeping people and their pets at the heart of everything we do.

Our shops are lively community hubs, loved by customers and supported by generous donations. Every purchase helps us continue caring for over 40,000 animals annually through rehoming, veterinary, and education programs.
As a Standby Shop Assistant, you will provide essential support to our in-store teams, ensuring the shop operates smoothly by assisting with customer service, stock management, and general duties. Our shops are open Monday to Saturday from 09:00 to 17:00, and you will help us maintain high standards of service and presentation. You will work alongside dedicated staff and volunteers in a role that offers flexibility and makes a real impact.
This is a zero-hours position, meaning your hours will vary based on the shop’s needs. We are committed to paying the Real Living Wage, currently £12 per hour, with a total hourly rate of £13.45, including holiday pay.

About you
We are looking for someone who:
* Has previous retail experience.
* Is proficient in cash handling and reconciliation.
* Has supervisory experience.
* Thrives in a customer-facing role.
* Possesses computer literacy and administrative skills.
