Clinical Lead – Bath and North East Somerset Drug and Alcohol Service

As the Clinical Lead Doctor you will have the chance to make a real difference to people experiencing difficulties with drug and alcohol use, working alongside addiction specialists across the country.
Job Introduction
Turning Point offers learning, support and the opportunity to lead service development, clinical governance, research, and innovation. The Clinical Lead will provide expert oversight, clinical supervision and training, and will manage complex prescribing and multidisciplinary care.
Role Responsibilities
* Lead all aspects of clinical governance and quality assurance, including audit, clinical effectiveness and patient safety.
* Take a lead on service development and implementation of policy.
* Champion research and innovation to develop new clinical guidance and service protocols.
* Work with Turning Point colleagues nationally to optimise patient care.
* Provide clinical supervision and training to clinical colleagues.
* Teach students from all aspects of the multidisciplinary team.
* Offer expert advice on diagnosis, assessment and care planning for complex drug interactions and comorbid conditions.
* Accept referrals of people with the most severe or complex needs.
* Provide expert oversight of psychosocial support and introduce innovative interventions to improve outcomes.
* Undertake complex prescribing, e.g., injectable opioid substitution treatments.
* Act as liaison with drug and alcohol services in acute medical and psychiatric settings and provide expert advice to courts.
* Collaborate with stakeholders including HM Coroner’s courts, probation services, and organisational delivery networks.
Ideal Candidate
We are recruiting an Addiction Psychiatrist, GP Specialist or a suitably experienced Speciality Doctor who can lead service delivery and development. We require:
* Accreditation as a specialist in substance use treatment.
* Either:
o Listed on the GMC’s Specialist Register as a psychiatrist with an endorsement in addiction.
o An equivalent training, experience and supervision certified by the GMC through a Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration (CESR).
o Listed on the GMC’s GP Register (or equivalent) with appropriate training, qualifications and experience.
o Fulfil the criteria of a speciality doctor in Addictions with suitable experience.
* Strong clinical experience and leadership skills.
