About the role
We are looking to appoint an inspirational, dynamic and enthusiastic Second in English to support the Head of Department in raising standards of pupil attainment and achievement within the English curriculum area in line with national school policies/priorities. This will include engaging with whole‑faculty initiatives regarding the quality of learning, teaching and assessment, monitoring pupil progress and coordinating effective intervention to improve outcomes for pupils for whom you are accountable.
Key responsibilities
* Support the Head of Department in raising standards of pupil attainment and achievement within the English curriculum.
* Engage with whole‑faculty initiatives regarding the quality of learning, teaching and assessment.
* Monitor pupil progress and coordinate effective intervention to improve pupil outcomes.
* Deliver high quality teaching and assessments.
* Promote a positive culture and continuous improvement within the department.
* Support staff development and mentoring within the department.
Key qualifications and experience
* Qualified teachers with a passion for English.
* Drive and motivation to continually improve the department and its outcomes.
* Ability to work collaboratively with senior leadership and colleagues.
* Commitment to professional development and supporting young people.
* Experience of working in a secondary school setting preferred.
* Valid teaching certificate and DBS check.
