About the Role
We are currently seeking an experienced and proactive Mechanical & Electrical Preventative Maintenance Engineer to join a busy metal waste recycling facility in Shepshed. This is a night-shift role, offering 40–45 hours per week, and plays a key role in keeping plant equipment operating efficiently and safely.
This temporary role offers the potential to become permanent for the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities

Carry out scheduled preventative maintenance on mechanical and electrical systems.

Diagnose faults and repair machinery to minimise downtime.
*
Respond to unplanned maintenance issues during night shifts.
*
Maintain accurate records of completed work and report recurring issues.
*
Collaborate with day-shift teams to ensure effective communication and handovers.
*
Follow all health, safety, and environmental procedures at all times.
Requirements
*
Proven experience in both mechanical and electrical maintenance, ideally in an industrial or recycling environment.
*
Recognised qualifications in mechanical and/or electrical engineering (e.g. NVQ, City & Guilds, or equivalent).
*
Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
*
Ability to work independently on night shifts and manage workload efficiently.
*
Flexible and reliable approach to tasks and responsibilities.
Desirable
*
Experience working in a metal recycling or heavy industrial setting.
*
Knowledge of PLCs and automated systems.
