Senior IT Technician

Overview:
This is an exciting opportunity to take a hands-on leadership role within a dynamic and customer-focused IT environment. The Senior Technical Lead will oversee technical operations, ensuring the delivery of high-quality IT services and solutions across client systems and infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities:
* Manage and prioritise technical service tickets, ensuring timely resolution and customer satisfaction.
* Collaborate daily with technical colleagues to share knowledge and efficiently resolve issues.
* Provide onsite and remote technical support to clients as required.
* Deliver expertise across all aspects of IT systems and software, including Microsoft 365, servers, and networking.
* Administer and maintain management systems such as HaloPSA.
* Install, configure, and support hardware and software across a variety of environments.
* Conduct systems administration and monitoring to ensure uptime, security, and performance.
* Perform planned preventative maintenance and proactive system monitoring.
* Liaise with third-party providers to ensure service levels are met.
* Assist with technical quotations and ensure accurate billing for supplied equipment or services.
* Manage stock levels of essential technical components.
* Identify and escalate potential business opportunities to management.
* Provide out-of-hours support when required and cover for colleagues to ensure full department coverage.
* Carry out any other reasonable duties in line with the role.
Person Specification
Essential Experience & Skills:
* Proven experience leading technical teams or service desks.
* Hands-on experience with Microsoft 365, servers, and network infrastructure (firewalls, routers, switches, VLANs).
* Strong knowledge of system monitoring and preventative maintenance practices.
* Experience using IT Helpdesk systems (such as HaloPSA).
* Excellent troubleshooting skills and broad technical knowledge across hardware and software platforms.
* Experience managing IT stock and procurement.
* Strong understanding of IT security and confidentiality best practices.
Other Requirements:
* Full UK driving licence and own vehicle.
* Ability to work from the Ipswich office and travel to client sites.
Desirable Criteria:
* Relevant IT certifications (e.g. CompTIA, Microsoft).
* Experience with structured cabling and physical network installations.
* Knowledge of asset management, quotation processes, and recharge systems.
* Experience in team development and performance monitoring.
* Awareness of business development opportunities within technical operations.
