Job Description
Lead Full Stack Developer
A growing digital consultancy is hiring a hands-on Lead Developer to take responsibility for technical delivery across client platforms, apps and integrations. This is not a team-lead title without power. You will set direction, make decisions, and be accountable for outcomes - while still writing production code.
What you’ll lead:
* Product Owner
* You (Lead Developer)
* 2-4 developers
What you’ll actually do
* Lead delivery from kick-off to production
* Make architecture calls that stand the test of time
* Set and enforce engineering standards
* Review and approve pull requests
* Unblock developers quickly
* Mentor and grow mid-level engineers
* Own CI/CD, environments and deployment approach
* Provide technical input into proposals and estimates
* Improve existing platforms, not just build new ones
* Expect roughly 70% hands-on / 30% leadership (flexible).
Core Technology
* Backend direction: Laravel
* Frontend: React (some Vue)
* Data: MySQL / PostgreSQL / MongoDB
* DevOps: GitHub, CI/CD, cloud infrastructure, Docker where appropriate
What makes someone right for this
* Proven experience operating at Lead or senior level
* Strong Laravel or Symfony background
* Comfortable taking ownership of decisions
* Experience mentoring or line managing developers
* Confident in fast-moving consultancy environments
* Happy being in Edinburgh two days per week
