FM Assistant (Cleaning) - Colchester

St. Aubyn Centre - Week 1 & Week 2, Longview, Friday, 08.00 - 15.00 (including a 30 min unpaid break)
To participate in providing in-house FM services within the Trust, which may include in-patient areas and retail outlets. The FM services comprise cleaning, catering, portering, bed making, and laundering services, specific to certain units. Responsibilities include maintaining a clean environment, working alongside patients, and collaborating with the Estates & Facilities Management Team.
Main duties of the job
The Estates & Facilities Department delivers high-quality, cost-effective services across Essex Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust.
We are looking to appoint enthusiastic and motivated staff. The annual leave entitlement is 27 days plus bank holidays, rising to 33 days after 10 years of service (pro-rata for part-time).
The salary is £23,615 (pro-rata for part-time), depending on experience and NHS service.

Job responsibilities
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
* Cleaning designated ward(s)/areas according to the work schedule, including vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, dusting, polishing, and cleaning surfaces and fixtures.
* Using correct cleaning equipment and chemicals, ensuring they are stored securely and used appropriately.
* Reporting equipment faults and maintaining cleanliness of machinery and storerooms.
* Proper disposal of waste, including clinical waste, following segregation protocols.
* Assisting with food services, including meal preparation, serving, and cleaning in designated wards.
* Handling laundry for specific areas, ensuring proper washing, drying, and storage of items.
* Carrying out portering duties such as delivering supplies, collecting waste, and assisting with patient transports.
* Maintaining safety procedures, including fire safety, gritting, and snow clearance.
