The role
As a Senior Project Engineer, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You’ll be at the heart of delivering complex engineering projects that support the UK’s submarine fleet. This is a unique opportunity to lead and mentor a team of engineers, drive innovation, and contribute to national defence. Day-to-day you’ll be required to:
1. Lead, manage and mentor Project Engineers to ensure successful project delivery
2. Guide teams in developing and maintaining project schedules aligned with Babcock’s Project Delivery Framework
3. Develop and refine PEPS processes and procedures to support engineering task execution
4. Coach engineers to meet planning and quality standards
5. Break down engineering tasks to build and maintain Project Management Plans across multiple submarine systems
This role is full time, 36 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements.
Essential experience of the Senior Project Engineer
6. Proven expertise in managing complex Fleet Programmes projects
7. Skilled in coordinating multidisciplinary engineering teams
8. Strong knowledge of submarine systems and engineering principles
9. Familiarity with customer systems such as RDAR, UMMS, SDD, Trilogy, CWE, and Survey
10. Experience with Planning Estimating and Production System (PEPS)
Qualifications for the Senior Project Engineer
11. HNC in Engineering or equivalent experience
12. Apprenticeship in Engineering or equivalent experience
13. ILM Level 3 or equivalent
14. APM Project Fundamentals Qualification (PFQ)
15. Training in Resilience and Wellbeing
