Are you a registered mental health nurse? Do you have clinical experience working in mental health? If you’re looking for a role with variety and learning opportunities, this could be an excellent option for you.
You’ll use your mental health clinical and case management skills to provide high quality support on mental health cases referred to AXA Health’s Mental Health team. You’ll work closely members, their families, clinicians, and hospitals to get the best care for our members, whilst helping the member to receive effective treatment in line with their policy cover and benefits.
At AXA we work smart, empowering our people to balance their time between home and the office in a way that works best for them, their team and our customers. You'll work at least 40% of your week away from home, moving to the majority of your working week from September 2025. Away from home means either attendance at either our Tunbridge Wells, Bristol or Glasgow offices. Typical working hours Monday – Friday, 8.30am – 5.00pm. You’ll travel every 2 – 3 months for team meetings.
We’re also happy to consider flexible working arrangements, which you can discuss with Talent Acquisition.
What you’ll be doing:

* Manage high cost or complex clinical cases, challenging clinical information as required. Ensure the member is aware of the cover available under their plan and their treatment options.
* Offer specialist mental health support and assistance to guide AXA Health colleagues dealing with mental health calls and claims.
* Handle claims accurately and effectively. Demonstrate the principles of claims cost management and identify potential areas of leakage.
* Involvement in project work as required.
* Know GDPR, PRA and FCA legal authority in relation to AXA Health.
* Adhere to the Nursing Midwifery Council (NMC) code of professional conduct.
* Continue with your professional development, maintain NMC, RMN registration and IDD requirement.
Due to the number of applications we expect to receive for this role, we reserve the right to close this advert earlier than the listed closing date to ensure we’re able to effectively manage interest. Therefore, if you’re interested in joining us at AXA, please don’t hesitate to apply.
What you’ll bring:
* Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN) with significant experience.
* Current registration with Nursing Midwifery Council (NMC).
* Substantive clinical experience working in mental health.
* Significant experience in secondary care both inpatient and community settings.
* Confidence in judgement, clinical decision making and taking ownership.
* Excellent written and verbal skills.
* Negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
* Insurance experience would be beneficial, but not essential.
As a precondition of employment for this role, you must be eligible and authorised to work in the United Kingdom.
This position has been defined as an Insurance Distribution Directive (IDD) role under the IDD regime which means that in addition to pre-employment screening checks, the successful candidate will be subject to background screening every 4 years with an annual declaration in interim years.
