Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and reliable Electrician to work at a commercial site in the Exeter area. The role involves installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems in within a critical environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Carry out the installation, commissioning, maintenance, and repair of a wide range of electrical systems and equipment within a commercial and critical environment, ensuring minimal disruption to operations
* Conduct routine electrical inspections, testing, and certification in line with current regulations, identifying potential risks or failures before they escalate
* Perform detailed fault-finding and diagnostics on electrical systems, using appropriate testing equipment to quickly identify issues and implement safe, effective solutions
* Ensure all electrical work is completed in full compliance with current industry standards and regulations, including BS 7671 Wiring Regulations and health & safety legislation
* Read, interpret, and work from technical drawings, schematics, and specifications to ensure accurate installation and maintenance of systems
* Install and maintain a variety of systems including lighting (general and emergency), power distribution, containment systems (tray, trunking, conduit), fire alarms, and data/communication cabling
* Carry out both planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance tasks, responding promptly to breakdowns or emergencies to maintain site functionality
* Assist in the commissioning and testing of new installations, ensuring systems are fully operational and meet required performance standards
* Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all work completed, including test results, maintenance logs, and materials used, in line with company and compliance requirements
* Work collaboratively with site managers, engineers, subcontractors, and clients to coordinate works, provide technical input, and ensure projects are delivered efficiently and on schedule
* Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in system performance, energy efficiency, and maintenance processes, and communicate these to relevant stakeholders
* Adhere strictly to all health & safety procedures, including risk assessments and method statements (RAMS), ensuring a safe working environment at all times
* Ensure proper use, care, and maintenance of tools, equipment, and company vehicles, reporting any defects or issues promptly
* Remain adaptable to the needs of a critical environment, including working in sensitive xsngvjr areas where uptime and reliability are essential
Requirements
* NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation (or equivalent)
* 18th Edition Wiring Regulations certification
* Proven experience working as an electrician in commercial environments
* ECS/CSCS card (preferred or required depending on employer)
* Strong knowledge of electrical systems, tools, and safety procedures
* Ability to read and interpret technical diagrams and plans
* Full UK driving licence (essential due to travel between sites)
