Job summary

Responsible for providing all aspects of clinical photography for diagnosis, case records, education, research and publication and for delivering a general photographic support service for patient information, research, publication, education and public relations. To assist in the development of the clinical photographic service internally and with external commissioning providers. To support the design and setting of standards for clinical and non‑clinical photography across University Hospitals Sussex, with continuing responsibility for delivery of high‑quality photographic work to clients’ specifications and deadlines, ensuring client satisfaction.


Main duties of the job

The CMC has a need for a replacement qualified clinical photographer as a member of the team will be taking her full maternity leave allowance plus any accrued annual leave. The CMC need maternity cover to maintain our current clinical commitments across the Trust.

Job responsibility

* Adheres to unit protocols and policies.
* Follows GDPR and Caldicott requirements with particular awareness of the sensitivity of images produced and works within Trust guidelines and policies regarding patient consent and confidentiality to clinical photography.
* Assesses Gillick competency of minors and judges the understanding of consent authorisation by the patient prior to undertaking photography.
* Provides advice and guidance in interpreting legislation and policy guidelines to Trust staff when required regarding consent, confidentiality and photography.
* Ensures correct archiving and labelling of digital images on central server and controls access to the information in line with GDPR.
* Manages quality control and performance review in conjunction with Head of CMC.
* Troubleshoots day‑to‑day on‑site issues with staff and service users.
* Responsible for on‑site colour management of monitors and peripheral devices to ensure accuracy of clinical records.
* Responsible for the safe use, maintenance and storage of valuable digital camera and video equipment.
* Responsible for on‑site stock control of photography and other materials as agreed with team manager.
* Acts as role model and advisor to less experienced staff.
* Supports senior staff to create a suitable, supportive and safe team environment.
* Supervises placement students within the photographic section of the department as appropriate.
* Ensures daily team wellbeing is assessed and supported and that weekly huddles take place.
* Participates in team meetings in the absence of the Head of CMC.


Person Specification

Registration

* Registered with The Academy for Healthcare Science.

Qualifications

* Clinical photography Post Graduate Certificate.
* Evidence of having undertaken Clinical Photography Qualification.
* Desirable: Registered with AHCS.
* Desirable: Experience working as a Qualified Clinical Photographer.
