Exam Invigilator - Temporary Exam Season Role - Tewkesbury (From June) Location : Tewkesbury Start date : June End date : Ongoing through the exam period Contract : Temporary exam invigilation Working pattern : Flexible / part time depending on the exam timetable Pay : Competitive hourly rate (dependent on experience) Exam Invigilator | Tewkesbury Support students during an important stage of the academic year, maintain a calm and organised exam environment, and make an immediate contribution in a temporary exam invigilation role in Tewkesbury. This flexible temporary opportunity begins in June and offers the chance to work with a supportive school in Tewkesbury during a busy exam period. You will help ensure examinations run smoothly, follow formal procedures carefully, and provide pupils with a fair, focused, and well-managed setting throughout each session. Role Overview We are looking to appoint a temporary Exam Invigilator to support a school in Tewkesbury from June during the exam season. The successful candidate will help oversee examinations in line with school procedures and JCQ guidelines, ensuring a secure, calm, and well-organised environment for students completing their assessments. This role would suit a reliable and professional individual looking for short-term work in education, someone with previous school-based or supervisory experience, or a confident candidate who can follow procedures carefully, remain calm under pressure, and support the smooth running of exams during a key time of year. Core Responsibilities Prepare exam rooms before each session, ensuring seating plans, materials, and instructions are set out correctly * Supervise students during examinations in accordance with school procedures and JCQ regulations * Read out exam instructions clearly and support the Exams Officer with the efficient running of each session * Maintain a calm, quiet, and secure environment throughout the exam period * Distribute and collect question papers and answer booklets accurately and in the correct order * Record attendance, report absences, and escalate any issues or irregularities promptly * Assist with starting and finishing exams on time, including the orderly entry and dismissal of candidates * Uphold safeguarding responsibilities and maintain professionalism and confidentiality at all times Required Skills & Behaviours Strong attention to detail with the ability to follow procedures accurately and consistently * Calm, professional, and vigilant approach while working in a quiet exam environment * Clear communication skills and confidence giving instructions to students when required * Organised and dependable, with the flexibility to adapt to changing exam schedules * Ability to work effectively as part of a team and take direction from the Exams Officer or school staff * Reliable, punctual, and committed to maintaining high standards throughout the assignment Qualifications & Experience Previous experience in a school, exam invigilation, education support, or supervisory setting is desirable but not essential * Good standard of written and spoken English, with confidence following formal instructions and procedures * Understanding of safeguarding responsibilities and willingness to complete required compliance checks * Ability to remain focused, observant, and professional throughout exam sessions * Right to work in the UK and an enhanced DBS on the update service, or willingness to obtain one * Availability from June, with flexibility to work morning and afternoon exam sessions where needed Benefits of Working with Monarch Education: GCA Approved Supplier opportunity to enhance your CPD portfolio through our Affinity Academy free Safeguarding training refer a friend scheme - £200 bonus (you can make unlimited referrals) online portal to manage your pay and timesheets To learn more about us and what makes Monarch one of the leading education recruitment providers nationwide - please visit our website - About Us - Monarch (monarcheducation.co.uk) Important Information: All pay rates provided are inclusive of rolled up holiday pay.
