Background
Estates, Environment and Facilities (EEF) is responsible for providing a safe and efficient working environment for all University staff and students across three campuses. EEF manages all building services, the strategic development of the estate and holds responsibility for the University’s sustainability strategy.
Responsibilities
This strategic role within Estates, Environment and Facilities (EEF) is responsible for ensuring the built environment is safe and compliant for all staff, student and contractors. The role will work directly with the Director, Estates, Environment and Facilities. This role will lead on the operational management of the engineering infrastructure and building services across a range of highly specialised and business critical activities crucial to the success of the University. This role spans all three campuses which have varied and complex assets and ensures that these are safe, compliant, and well maintained in support of the University’s Estates Strategy. To manage an expert in-house team at Clerkenwell and Moorgate and a specialist outsourced Hard FM team at the Tooting campus. The staffing model includes engineers, energy managers, water compliance specialists, maintenance and trade staff, as well as a large contractor base.
Person Specification
The successful candidate will have a deep understanding of Estates, Environment and facilities portfolios within the HE context, gained from proven direct experience. You will be an expert in the management, installation and maintenance of engineering such as Building Management Systems technology, Low Voltage/High voltage systems, water management, mechanical ventilation, heating and steam systems, fire alarms, and building control. You will have proven experience managing significant projects (value £1 million+) and procuring services and materials from a wide range of suppliers and contractors.
