Senior Portfolio Analyst – Personal Lines Insurance
Location: Hybrid (Surrey / Greater London - 4 days p/month on site) | Full-time
Salary: up to £75,000 + bonus + benefits
A specialist UK home insurer is hiring a Senior Portfolio Analyst into Technical Pricing & Underwriting. This is a hands-on role focused on portfolio performance, net pricing adequacy and actionable insight, this is ideal for someone who enjoys coding, data manipulation and end-to-end analysis.
What you’ll do
* Monitor underwriting/portfolio performance and identify drivers at customer/segment level
* Build and enhance oversight tools and MI (SQL + open-source analytics)
* Deliver pricing & underwriting reviews; recommend and support deployment of changes (incl. model overlays/segmented changes)
* Support feature engineering/data enrichment and new product/proposition pricing
* Contribute to methodology improvement and automation; support loss ratio forecasting
What you’ll bring
* 3+ years personal lines pricing/actuarial/portfolio analytics (home preferred)
* Strong SQL and R (Plotly/Shiny/FlexDashboard/Leaflet helpful)
* Good understanding of portfolio performance techniques (e.g., AP/TP, RMI, AvE, triangles)
* Experience with GLM/GBM models and practical deployment/overlay work
* Strong stakeholder communication; comfortable explaining rate impacts
* Data visualisation - Power BI / Tableau / Shiny etc
* Nice-to-have / Non essential: Databricks, geo-spatial, basic Java exposure
